Our next film is called, "Here to be Heard: The Story of The Slits", a film about the world's first all girl punk band who formed in London in 1976, were contemporaries of The Clash & The Sex Pistols, they are the pioneering godmothers of the musical movement known as "Punky Reggae". The film tells the story of the band and the lives of the women involved, from the band's inception in 1976 to the bands end in 2010 at the death of lead vocalist Ari Up.

Molasses Manifesto is a film production company that started out making records in 1998, now we mostly make feature length music documentaries and the occasional music video.

Due to our background and the subject matter of most of our films, Molasses Manifesto uses an indie rock model in the exhibition of our films, which means we don't release the film theatrically everywhere on the same day, we tour it like a band, physically touring with the film, visiting each town, selling merch, and doing a Q&A, often in conjunction with a musical performance.

This also means that while we show our films in theaters, we also show them anywhere a band would play: bars, art galleries, all ages venues, and even houses.

Our first film, "Kill All Redneck Pricks: A Documentary Film about a Band Called KARP" was released in October 2011 and screened over 70 times in 10 countries, was translated into 3 languages, and received a review of "Excellent" in the San Francisco Bay Guardian and "3 out of 4 stars" in the Seattle Times.
